My Top Five

I’m on vacation with the boyfriend and some friends this weekend and we had to pack in a hurry forcing me to quickly choose just a few colors… fortunately I have my pre-established top five and just grabbed them… not including Seche Base and Seche Vite, these are the top five I would choose if stuck on a desert island:

Spoiled! “Shrimp On The Barbie

Make Up Your Face “Chaotic”
OPI “Spark de Triomphe”
Sinful Colors “Bali Mist”
Confetti “Bayou Blue”

It’s so interesting what you can learn about yourself by looking at a list of nail polish…. Clearly I love glitter and budget friendly polishes.

What are your favorites?

PS Sorry for brevity, I’m trying out the WordPress app for the first time!

Revlon 2012 Holiday Collection- Just Add Sparkle

I’ve been MIA when it comes to new additions to my collection because I’ve been so busy with a new puppy and dealing with my boyfriends hurt back, so today when I was at Wegmans to pick up a frozen dinner before work, I was super excited to find the entire collection on an aisle end cap. I’ve been wanting to see this in person ever since I saw Nouveau Cheap’s and Gotham Polish’s posts on it, so it completely made my Monday!  I am obviously a nail polish addict, but there is a special place in my heart for glitter nail polishes so I obviously ended up buying all four. I was very tempted to purchase the eye shadows and lip glosses too, but it’s not in the budget right now.  The eye shadows also resembled the Color Stay and Diamond Eye Shadows from Revlon which I already have, so I couldn’t justify it.  The four new colors for Holiday 2012 are pictured below, along with the display for anyone who wants to keep an eye out in their local store.

ImageAnd the colors, from left to right are:

Midnight Sparkle, Sequins, Brilliant Bordeaux, and Ruby Slippers.

ImageI’m super excited to try these out because despite having over 30 glitter and glittery polishes, I don’t have any quite like these. I will definitely be posting swatches and a review soon!

Forget broken nails…

Thanks to a nasty fall while weightlifting at his work gym yesterday, my boyfriend messed up his back big time and has some herniated disks…and can’t go to the bathroom or do much of anything on his own for a few days.  Given this amazing guy took great care of me after I got in a horrible car accident in March, I’m totally willing and happy to help him… including dragging him kicking and screaming (well, more like flinching and screaming) to the orthopedic surgeon’s office this morning. However, not going to lie, I’m a little nervous about having to help him go to the bathroom… showering, fine, cleaning, cooking laundry…well honestly I do most of those things anyway.  But helping a grown man take care of business…well, I guess I knew moving in together would result in a bit less mystery in a relationship…just not that much!

On the upside, on the way to the doctor today, he complimented my manicure (a white jelly sandwich with multi-colored glitter) and noted how all the drugs he was on made the holographic sheen of the pearl white color look even cooler.  It’s the little things, right??

Blank Slate!

I feel somewhat naked today because there is nothing on my nails. Fridays are typically our day off together, but because the boyfriend is working today, I find myself with an extra free day and I’m not sure what to do with it,or my nails. I typically take off what I’m wearing before bed and paint a strengthening base coat to set overnight and then decide to my manicure in the morning based on what I’m wearing or doing (but never matchy-matchy!). However, today I find myself with the freedom of having lots to do but little motivation to do any of it. As weird as I feel having plain nails, I really am kind of reveling in a day alone, which reminds me of the fun part of being a single girl in my own apartment with no-one to answer to but my dog. Maybe I will re-organize my closet, clean out my shoes, paint multiple manicures just because I can, or maybe I will just lay in bed, catch up on reality tv, cuddle with the dogs, and do nothing- which is pretty much what I’ve done today.

Despite all my idealistic talk about enjoying the day alone, and doing nothing…I find myself using the bf’s pillow and looking at the clock, wondering when he is going to get home…and picking out what polish to use for the first manicure of today. Funny how quickly we develop habits without even realizing it.

Part Of My Collection

You know your boyfriend is serious about you moving in when he installs a custom nail polish rack for you in his bathroom…just one of the many adjustments he has made as we merge our lives together. I’ve started this blog because I want to learn WordPress and I love nail polish, and my boyfriend, but he is sick of hearing about nail welcome!  I’m new to blog writing but have been a long time reader of multiple blogs so this is a personal experiment…
